I grew up in Mississippi, and this was the chicken my grandmammy made Sunday for the whole family. It's part of the fabric of my childhood, and I still make it plenty today. Everyone says it's the best they've every tasted. Note: it's also great cold at picnics.

Ingredients
1 whole
chicken
1 cup
flour
1 tablespoon
salt
1 teaspoon
garlic powder
1 teaspoon
pepper
1 teaspoon
paprika
1
egg
1 cup
oil for frying
Directions

Cut up the chicken and rinse well.

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.

Beat the eggs in a separate bowl, adding a little water to thin.

Dip each piece of chicken in flour, then egg, then flour again. Shake lightly and place in hot (not smoking) oil in large skillet. (Oil should come 3/4 of the way up the sides of the pan.)

Fry until crispy and chicken is firm. Drain on paper towels.

Serve : 4

Ready in : A half hour
